Our Story

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]SVIB was formed on March 22, 1983. From the beginning SVIB was the acronym for the Swedish Vibrations Association.
SVIB was founded as an extension of the work in the IVA Vibration Committee during the period 1976-1982. From the beginning, the association gathered 250 members.

“ 1997 SVIB became the Scandinavian vibration association. The purpose of the association has already from the beginning been to work within the vibration area with respect to information dissemination and knowledge development.”

The association has conducted an annual vibration day. The association has for a long periods of time gathered more than 500 members.
The association’s activities have been strongly linked to norms and standardization work as well as research, development and education. Early on, the association’s work was divided into five committees related to different parts of the vibration area.

Through Alf’s creative work and contact network, a large number of well-arranged symposia and vibration days were conducted.
A standing feature for a long time was the annual meetings held at the Royal Opera’s premises.

“ The Gold Accelerometer is the association’s annual award, which has been awarded to those who have made meritorious efforts for the dissemination of knowledge and the development of knowledge in the field of vibration.”

SVIB news (SVIB Nytt) has been the association’s information sheet and has been published in 85 issues during the period 1983-2014, which now are available for download on the website.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
